The hay is all baled. We are so thankful for the rain that has made the grass grow. We'll take a few days off to before we start cutting more hay. This weekend we will also begin synchronizing some cows to put embryos in. This is a busy time of year, but also a very fruitful time.

Second calf born to a heifer we sold last spring. Bonfire bull calf born to Fudgie. Fudgie belongs to Ashley Sampson. One of the perks of purchasing your show heifer from Rocking B Farms. We'll bred your heifer for you. Come see our calves. Ask about our April specials.

This time of year is always fun. The mornings begin with a view of all these calves enjoying the cool morning after a little rain last night. Looks like it'll be dry the rest of the week. Off to cut some hay.

Way to go Mintie and Bree! Reserve Grand Champion American Heifer at the Tyler County Junior Livestock Show. Bree is a Smooth Cavalier heifer that Mintie bought for her Houston scramble heifer. Good job girls!

Hope to get a little rain this weekend and then some dry weather this next week. We need to get some hay cut soon. Also need to start thinking about spraying for grass hoppers before they eat all our grass. The tractor and baler sure look bored.

Happy Easter to everyone as we rejoice in the Lord!

Saturday, April 7, 2012

The weather is great. We'd like to cut hay, but there's a chance of rain on Monday. Not enough dry days for the hay to dry. Hope to be able to get some more of this rye grass put up for hay. If we don't do it soon, it will go to seed and not make very good hay. We need to restock our hay supplies. We don't want a repeat of last year. Have a wonderful Easter weekend! Come take a look at our Beefmaster show heifer prospects.

Last night we had quite the storm. Rain, wind, thunder and lightening. Lightening hit the pecan tree in our front yard then jumped to our house and took out one of our bathrooms, the garage and gate openers. All our cattle are safe.

Sounds like we'll get some rain tonight.

Monday, April 2, 2012

The rain today and tomorrow is likely to delay our hay cutting this week. That's okay. We don't know what summer will bring.

A cloudy Sunday morning can be brightened by seeing a group of baby calves.
